EXCRUCIATING. ELECTRIFYING. EVOCATIVE.
An emotional roller coaster! I was enthralled then infuriated, tearing up, then removing my headphones when it was too much... Very well produced and a truly fresh, innovative premise from Tahereh Mafi! The writing style is something of an acquired taste for sure. It’s very hard to listen to in one go and can completely overwhelm you. I had to take a long break after reading this before picking up the sequel. But the themes in the book are so important and relatable in so many ways. And the world and characters do make you want to know more. Juliette’s story is... well as tragic as her name sake’s. I want so much for her taht I can’t but pick up the next book. Soon.
